A training week on Agroecology in Belgium from Monday 8 to Friday 12 May 2017. Exceptional contribution of Miguel Altieri and Clara Nichols. I will also be involved in the training. The training will be provided in English. It will start from the basics of agroecology but it will then develop specialised aspects related to soil, plant and animal productions, social and economic aspects. It will illustrate a variety of agricultural and food systems. It is thus open to a large public of students, researchers, farmers, advisers, and to all people interested in farming, agro-food systems and agroecology.

About the half of the programme will be farm and field visits and practical works. These activities will tackle diverse topics such as development and efficiency of ecological infrastructures, soil fertility, biological control, crop, grassland and livestock productions, food processing, social aspects including access to land, and profitability of agroecological systems.

The training will include a conference for a larger public on the evening of Monday 8. The conference will be presented by Miguel Altieri on the theme: ‘Agroecology: past, present and future’. The training week should attract participants from all over Europe. This will create good opportunities for networking and exchanges. The meeting place is easy to reach from all surrounding countries by car, from Brussels airports or railway stations.

The registration cost is 550 euro, breakfast, lunch, drinks and visits included. Cheap accommodation will be available.
